São Paulo beat Santo André 1-0 this Sunday afternoon (5), playing at ABC Paulista. The goal, already scored in the second half, was scored by Argentine defender Alan Franco, with a header after a corner kick.

With the result, the team led by Rogério Ceni reached 11 points, at the top of Group B.

Santo André, in turn, has 10 points and is in third place in Group D, which has Palmeiras as leader.

The team from São Paulo had the ball much more in the first half. He failed, however, to enter the opponent’s area – his main chances came from a rehearsed free kick, with Erison, in the 21st minute, in a shot that went close to the goal defended by Lucas Frigeri, and in a shot from outside the area by Rodrigo Nestor, at 29, saved by the goalkeeper.

The home team almost opened the scoring after the São Paulina defense messed up, in the 33rd minute. Gabriel Neves and Alan Franco fumbled and the ball fell to veteran Gerson Magrão, face to face with goalkeeper Rafael. He, however, took a while to set up the kick and Orejuela managed to stop the action.

In the second half, São Paulo managed to work the ball better and had more chances: the best ones were with Wellington, in the 5th minute, with a cross kick, and with Luciano, in the 25th minute, who kicked the net into the outside after a good pass from David.

In added time, Luciano received inside the small area, cleared the marker and kicked, but saw Lucas Frigeri perform a miracle, with his feet. In the corner kick after the defense, however, came the goal of São Paulo.

Santo André, during the second stage, even before taking the goal, looked for counterattacks. In one that managed to fit, José Hugo kicked with danger, in the 35th minute. But that was it.

São Paulo returns to the field on Wednesday (8), at 7:30 pm, when, away from home, it faces Bragantino; Santo André receives Água Santa the following day, at 6 pm.
