Van Weert: “We didn’t do our best”

by

Tom Van Weert emphasized that AEK did not perform at their best against Levadieakos and that mistakes were made in the first half and gave the Boeotians the opportunity to make some good attacks, he focused on the “deep” roster that Union has this year to replace as many players as he needs and considers the victory over PAOK in Toumba an obligation and they will go to Thessaloniki with confidence.

Analytically: “It’s a good win, but I don’t think we put in our best performance. In the first half, we made some mistakes, we lost the balls quite easily, we gave the opponent the chance to make some counter-attacks and when we attacked, they were quite well set up defensively and the opposition team was quite solid. So, I think it wasn’t our best performance, of course it was a good win.”

AEK gets things from players coming off the bench. If he feels that all footballers are necessary and useful for Almeida. “All my team-mates are tremendously qualified, they can all play in the starting line-up and I think they have, so any change made during the game won’t make things any worse. They can be better, because they offer ‘freshness’ to the team and help the result”.

For the match against PAOK in Toumba: “If we see the results we have against big teams in this year’s championship, what we will do is to go and play with full confidence against PAOK, in no way are we going to underestimate PAOK, but yes, we have a good team, footballers with many qualifications and we will achieve what we want to pursue”.
