The relevant announcement of ELOT in detail: «The punishment of the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation (ELOT) by the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) fell like lightning. The announcement through the press of the punishment concerning ELOT, reminds of dark times of ETU, which allowed the pseudo-state of Dentkas to participate in its European championships.
As then, so now, the European Taekwondo Union, instead of entering the process of resolving a major issue through dialogue, decides to unjustifiably punish Greek athletes by excluding them from its competitions.
This major issue concerns exclusively the Greek coaches and all the competent bodies will have to focus there, who will have to cooperate in order to find an immediate solution. A permanent and legal solution, which will primarily protect the prestige of the Greek coaches of Olympic taekwondo. We recognize that the ETU coaching schools have unfortunately left open wounds to all those who attended it, and these must be healed and a final solution given.
ELOT, for its part, stood up to the circumstances by claiming and eventually founding a C` category coaching school in 2018. More than 200 new coaches graduated from it, some of whom in 2022 will have the opportunity to upgrade their diploma them in a B` category degree. At the same time, ELOT will immediately request the realization of a new coaching school of category C, in which all those interested with the ETU degree could participate.
For the administration of ELOT, what is required at the moment is the immediate settlement of pending issues of the past. We are confident that a timely solution to such an important and crucial issue will be given, for the benefit of Greek athletes who in 2022 will pursue their dream of international distinction and presence in the top sporting event of 2024, the Paris Olympic Games “.
