After the sale of Chelsea by Abramovich, Tottenham too, according to the Financial Times, is close to its sale. The Iranian-American investor Jam Nazafi is interested in buying the majority package of the team for an amount of 3.5 billion euros.
Najafi, who is the chairman of MSP Sports Capital, is working with a consortium of investors and is only a short distance away from the formal approach of Spurs owner Joe Lewis and chairman Daniel Leavy.
The Tottenham fans seem to see this prospect positively, as the trophies they expected have not come despite the fact that great coaches, such as Mourinho and Conte, and valuable players such as Kane and Son have passed.
As global interest in the Premier League soars, some owners are beginning to consider an exit. The American billionaire Glazer family, which has owned Manchester United since 2005, is exploring selling the club, while Liverpool’s American owners have said they are also considering a sale. Najafi, until recently, was a minority shareholder in the Phoenix Suns, with a $4 billion deal.
