Bogoria of Gioni suffered a second defeat and was left out of the European Cup table tennis final

by

In the second “civil war” with Djialdovo for the semi-finals of the 2022-2023 table tennis Europe Cup, Panagiotis Gionis’ Bogoria lost at home 3-0 sets and was eliminated from the final of the competition.

With the same score, she had been defeated on the 16th of the month as a guest and she knew that she had a very difficult task for the overthrow. This was also seen in practice and, when Dzialdovo took a 2-0 set lead, the case of qualification was definitively clarified. The Greek ace was placed this time in position 3 of his team, but his match was not interesting, as, when he entered the table, the score was 0-2 and the last hopes of qualification were “extinguished”.

Of course, Bogoria’s European course this year was also positive, while Gionis, for his part, also contributed to the good results in the Champions League and the entry into the semi-finals of the Europe Cup, even though he is also dealing with the chronic problem in the Achilles tendon.

In addition, Greek table tennis will have a representative in the final of the second European Cup. Djialdovo’s opponent will be Yannis Sgouropoulos’ Enebon.

Many of Bogoria’s friends were present in Grodzisk’s room to support her in her very difficult endeavor. The teams lined up the same threes as in the first match, but the home team varied the set-up for tactical reasons.

At the start, the young Pole Milos Rezimski, who last week had entered as a third player, competed. He lost 3-0 sets to Dane Jonathan Groth and the advantage for Djaldovo grew.

Next, Poland’s Marek Badowski again faced Dzialdovo’s first player, his compatriot Jakub Diaz. This time he lost with a 3-0 set and there the guests ensured the qualification to the final of the Europe Cup.

Gionis had entered his team’s No. 1 position in the first semi-final, but today a third player was placed. His opponent was the very remarkable Japanese Kai Konichi, but basically everything was procedural now…

On another occasion, the match would have been very interesting on an individual level as well, as Gionis had strong encounters with penholder Asiatis in the past. The top defender took the first set, lost the rest by a margin and the final set was written 3-0.

In detail, the evolution of the match Bogoria-Gialdovo 0-3 sets:

Milos Rezimski-Jonathan Groth 1-3 (3-11, 8-11, 11-9, 10-12)

Marek Badowski-Jakub Dias 0-3 (4-11, 6-11, 5-11)

Panagiotis Gionis-Kai Konitsi 1-3 (11-9, 6-11, 5-11, 6-11)
