GM Fenerbahce: “We wanted Dorsey since the summer, he understood that his future is in Europe”

Its general manager FenerbahceDeria Janier, talked about her background acquisition of Tyler Dorsey.

“They’ve been on our radar since the summer, among the first names in our planning. Although we hadn’t spoken to him in a long time then, Dorsey wanted to pursue an opportunity to play in the NBA. So we followed a different plan. We contacted him mid-season when he had changed managers. Despite our intent to sign him, he wanted to try out in the G League. But the conversations we had with him warmed our relationship along the way. He knows well the plans we have in Fenerbahce“, he initially emphasized and added:

“We contacted again 3-4 days before he left his G League team. We talked about all the details and explained our plans to him again. We explained to him that we are working on the structure of the next season but also for the next 2-3 years. Of course we hope he will help us immediately this season as well, but we wanted to acquire him with the future in mind as well. We analyzed all the details for him and he has understood that it is better for his career to continue in Europe and in a team with big goals. Our ambitions are the same and that’s why we signed for 2.5 years».

At the same time, he confirmed that the deal for her is approaching renewal of Marko Guduric’s contract. “We have been in contact with him for a long time and we are in the final stage. I don’t expect anything negative and I hope it will be part of our three-year plan. He is one of the most important players for us“, he underlined.
