Kanos: “Of course we are affected by the tragedy in Tempe”

In the home match against Levadeiakos (5/3, 16:00) they have set their sights on Olympiakos, with Sergi Kanos to make statements ahead of the match.

The Spanish midfielder initially insisted that the tragedy in Tempe has affected the entire “red and white” team, while he then referred to how he experienced his first Greek derby (against Panathinaikos).

In detail what the Olympiacos midfielder said:

About the tragedy in Tempe: “We were all very sad. When we were informed, here at the training center we felt great sadness and our thoughts went to the families of the victims. We are clearly affected by what happened, by the lives lost and the people who lost theirs. It is a tragedy and of course football is not important at all in the face of what has happened”.

On how he experienced his first Greek derby: “The truth is that that day I experienced a new reality. I experienced the atmosphere as it had been described to me, with the world of Olympiakos inside our stadium. It was a derby in a really new environment for me, which was amazing.”.

“I think we played an amazing game and showed what Olympiacos means. We did everything we could. But the truth is that I was quite sad because I’m not used to losing so many opportunities. After the match I was thinking about the missed opportunities and how we didn’t manage to score. I was pretty sad about it. I was really overwhelmed with the amazing atmosphere our fans created, but also sad about the missed opportunities.”.

For the continuation and the match with Levadeiakos: “I think that scoring is not so much the point as playing as we did against Panathinaikos. If we maintain this performance, this image and if we make our opponents feel the way we made Panathinaikos feel, then the goals will come”.
