THE Miltos Tendoglou he returned with the other members of the Greek expedition from Constantinople, where he conquered it gold medal in the European Indoor Track and Field.

The 24-year-old jumper, after politely declining to answer any questions that didn’t pertain to his match, spoke about the emotion he felt at the national anthem. “I wouldn’t say I sulked, I was just moved because the stand was filled with Greeks singing the national anthem. And that was very moving“, he emphasized.

I am proud of what my coach and I have achieved. We work hard for these matches. I’m a competitive athlete, I really like medals, performances and I’m always chasing the best. Congratulations to all 19 guys on the team, they all had a fantastic race and we got two more medals“, he added.

As for his performance and whether waking up in the morning affected him? “If the match was in the afternoon, it would help a lot more. Waking up in the morning was very difficult. I was trying to go to bed early at night to get an eight hour sleep, but I was waking up in between and it was a little weird. But I warmed up well and the first jump was pretty good. Even if the first jump wasn’t good, I think I would have a good performance afterwards».

He himself sets the bar high for the sequel. “And now my goal was 8.50m, I’ve done it before. I want to do 8.60m in the summer. or 8.70 m. I hope I can make it. Lots and lots of good racing along with consistency builds your Olympic form. The most important thing is that I am healthy and have no injuries».

Finally, about whether he paid attention to his shoes this time, after the uproar with the cancellation of his performance in a previous match, he emphasized with a smile:Of course I chose the shoes carefully. We double-checked it, so that everything is okay».
