Corinthians faces Fortaleza and has Mosquito as a weapon

by

Gustavo Mosquito, 24, you can be sure. Even if he doesn’t start with Sylvinho’s Corinthians, at some point in the match this Saturday (6), against Fortaleza, he will take the field.

The player was responsible for the improvement of the team in the victory by 1-0 over Chapecoense last Monday (1st). This has been a constant whenever he leaves the reserve bank.

The clash against Fortaleza is scheduled to take place at 17:00 at Neo Química Arena and will be broadcast by Premiere.

The presence of Mosquito coming off the bench has been a constant in the team’s last nine games. His last lineup as a starter took place against Atlético-GO, on September 12th.

“Gustavo is highly valued by the club. The right side is his strength, but he has already played on the left side. He is committed to the group and to the club. He understood the process”, praised Sylvinho, who has also gotten used to it, mainly in arena games, listening to requests from fans to put him on the team.

Against Fortaleza, if they enter the field, Mosquito will complete 100 matches as a professional, 79 of them for Corinthians. On loan, the striker also played for Vila Nova-GO, Oeste and Paraná Clube.

He lost space as a starter with the arrival of Giuliano, Renato Augusto, Roger Guedes and Willian, signed with the Brazilian Championship in progress. The reinforcements made Corinthians increase in production and start fighting for a place in the next Copa Libertadores. The lineup changes brought about by the new athletes turned Mosquito into a weapon for the second half.

Until the 20th round of the competition, he had started 15 consecutive times. One of the team’s offensive references, sometimes with fluctuating income.

Even before Sylvinho arrived, Corinthians coaches highlighted his physical ability and talent for dribbling Mosquito. In a documentary produced by TV Globo with the backstage of the club, earlier this year, coach Vagner Mancini is caught angry with the player. Ask him to “go at the guys” with the ball dominated, because of his strength and speed.

Against Fortaleza, the team will have the return of goalkeeper Cássio and defensive midfielder Xavier. Both were suspended in the victory over Chapecoense. With muscle damage, Willian continues to be embezzled.
