Stoiximan Super League: Final with AEK-Olympiakos derby and battles at all levels

by

Ionian-Asteras Tripoli

Ionikos have met Asteras Tripoli just four times so far in the Super League and three of those meetings have been in Arcadia.

Their next two matches took place at the stadium of Asteras Tripoli, for the Second Round of the championship for the Playouts, with Ionikos getting the same number of victories and even with the same score (2-3).

In this year’s championship, Ionikos has just one home win, which he scored on February 4, 2023 against Aris, while in his previous home game he was defeated 2-0 by OFI.

Levadeakos-OFI

The history of the two teams’ encounters can be traced back to the 1967-68 season when they met for the Second Division Championship, but it took several decades for them to meet at National A/Super League level.

OFI has won the last two games played at home, 2-0 in the 2018-19 season and 2-1 in the First Round match.

The most popular score in home matches with Levadeiakos is 2-1, with four appearances, while there are also three 1-0 wins. All their draws are 1-1 and there is no game so far at the home of Levadeaikos in which a goal has not been scored.

Panaitolikos-Lamia

The two teams are among the few that participate in the Stoiximan Super League and have coexisted in all professional categories in the past. Their first meeting was in the 1978-79 season for the second division, while in the 80s they also met for the 3rd National Team.

A total of 14 matches have been held between them in both venues and the dominant result is a draw, which has been presented in half of their games (7). In fact, the dominance of the home team is very rare, with only three in the total of 14 matches, with Panaitolikos having two and Lamia only one.

Panaitolikos prevailed last season in Agrinio with 1-0 (56′ Dago) for the regular duration of the championship, but in the Playouts Lamia won 2-1 thanks to the goals of Manousos and Eleftheriadis, while for the hosts he had scored Duarte.

Aris-PAS Ioannina

Aris will welcome PAS Ioannina for the 24th time and in their meetings so far they have 14 wins, the team from Epirus has won twice and seven of their games have ended in a draw.

PAS Ioannina has not been defeated in its last three visits to the home of Aris and in fact on November 20, 2021 it prevailed with an impressive 5-0, which is the biggest home defeat of Aris in the A’ National/Super League, since at home until then he had one loss 5-1 and two 5-2.

In none of their last six games have they both managed to score, while this streak started with PAS Ioannina – Aris 0-0 on January 11, 2021.

Volos-PAOK

For the fourth time, Volos will welcome PAOK, with the total number of matches between the two teams being seven in both venues. In these seven matches, Dikephalos has five wins, while there are also two draws.

In the first season alone, PAOK managed to get two wins against Volos during the season, while in the previous two seasons they had one win and one draw, with Volos drawing 0-0 at home in 2020-21 and 2021-22 to leave Toumba with the impressive 4-4.

PAOK has only been beaten away by AEK, while in their last seven games away from home they have four wins and three draws, with the two draws being in their last two away games, with Astera Tripoli and PAS Ioannina.

Atromitos-Panathinaikos

The history of the matches between the two teams began on December 10, 1972, with Atromitos welcoming Panathinaikos for the first time. The Greens left with the victory and a wide 4-0, which is also their most productive performance. Veron scored two goals, while Antoniadis and Papadimitriou scored the other two.

The most popular score in Panathinaikos’ victories is 1-0, which has been scored five times, while in second place with two repetitions are 4-0, 2-0 and 2-1. Four of their six overall draws are 1-1, while there are two games where no goals have been scored (0-0).

Last season, Panathinaikos won 2-0 thanks to two goals by Palasios, in a match that took place again in March (6/3).

AEK-Olympiakos

This is the 66th meeting of the two teams with AEK playing host for the A’ Ethniki/Super League and the first since November 9, 2002 in New Philadelphia for the championship. At that time the two opponents were tied at 1-1 (44′ Nikolaidis – 30′ Djordjevic).

The two teams met for the Greek Cup on February 9, 2023, with AEK winning 3-0 and ending a streak that had seen them winless against Olympiakos since February 7, 2018, when they had prevailed 2- 1 again for the Greek Cup.

AEK have managed to maintain their unbeaten run at home for six consecutive matches in two different time periods, with two wins and four draws on both occasions.

The most popular score between the two teams is 1-1 with ten appearances, while in second place is 1-0 in favor of AEK with nine appearances. White draws (8 times) are in third place, while the most popular scores in Olympiakos’ victories are 1-0 and 2-1 with five appearances.
