The legendary striker had been sacked as a commentator on the British network after criticism leveled at the government on its immigration policy. This move by the BBC caused strong reactions even within the network itself, with producers, presenters and journalists refusing to work in protest at the attempt to silence Lineker.
The BBC seeing also the public outcry against him, as the vast majority of the public sided with the former footballer, he was forced to retreat. So Lineker will not only be reinstated immediately, but the network will apologize for his behavior!
The director general of the BBC, Tim Davey, traveled from the US back to England in an attempt to end the matter with the least possible damage to the credibility of the Media, and finally the golden ratio was found. In fact, it is expected that there will be changes in the regulation of the British network regarding the expression restrictions that are “enforced”.
