Jonsson: “I’m very surprised we didn’t beat Olympiakos – It’s a crazy open league”

About yesterday’s match against Olympiakos, about the Greek championship, but also about his desire to return at some point to the team that brought him up, Aarhus, Jens Jonsson spoke to Meso of his hometown.

The AEK midfielder said that his team was much better than the “red and whites”, but they succeeded a chance goal that changed the game. He also added that the Greek championship is wildly open this season and ten “finals” will be played, while he showed that he does not forget the club of his birth and watches all its games.

In detail what he said on bold.dk:

About the atmosphere in the “Opap Arena”: “I’ve never seen this thing before. It was crazy to be a part of that fight. I have never experienced so much in a match that there is such an atmosphere with the smoke bombs. A match can last a total of 2.5 hours! It is a very nice place. Unique experience. I may have experienced the same atmosphere in Turkey, but I have never seen this before in my life. Like Roman hell! It ‘s crazy. I enjoy this electric atmosphere in the games”, were the words of the Danish ace and he added about yesterday’s defeat…”.

For the defeat against Olympiakos: “I’m very, very surprised that we didn’t get the three points. We had them out of our area for 50 minutes and then they scored a fortuitous goal where we made a mistake. We were very specific about the game throughout, so it’s a real shame the way it turned out. More or less, this match developed as we lost to Panathinaikos at the beginning of the season. Of course it wasn’t a good result, but on the other hand we can take it as a positive that we played well and really dominated”

For the playoffs: “Unfortunately, we didn’t open the gap. We would be nine points from Olympiakos. Now we are three behind Olympiakos and we are two behind Panathinaikos. And PAOK is also a few points behind, so the championship is crazy open. There will be ten finals. It will be great”.

For his future and Aarhus: “I follow every result of Aarhus and I also watch their matches. The club means a lot to me, so of course I follow them. I won’t hide that the football romantic part of me dreams of coming home and going ‘full circle’ and ending it all there. It’s still a dream that lives inside of me. I don’t know if it will happen.

I can’t say it will happen 100 percent. I could see myself abroad as well. If I come home at 34-35: ‘Do I have anything to offer? I do not know. I may also want to return home in three and a half years, when my AEK contract ends. I’m in no rush to speculate on that. I dream about it and hope for it, but it has to fit in all the places.”
