Unbelievable and yet true… In a Divisional Cup match K18 her Nantes opposite to Monaco, man hit and threatened a young football player with a knife of the home team sitting in the stands.
The details of the victim of the attack remain unknown for security reasons, while the perpetrator is being sought as he had left the scene by the time the Police Authorities arrived.
As reported in France, after the specific event that took place last Sunday, there was general tension and fights between more than 20 people.
The even more impressive thing about the case is, however, that after the temporary stop the match ended normally with the minor footballer finding refuge in the locker room.
Today, the French team also spoke on the matter, stressing that it is already cooperating with the authorities in order to contribute to the investigations.
Nantes’ announcement in detail:
“On Sunday during the quarter-final of the French Cup U18 between Nantes and Monaco, at the “Marcel Saupin” stadium, a footballer of our team who came to support his teammates was attacked with a knife by an unknown man to follow the intervention of police.
Nantes condemns any such action and points out that it has no place in the stadiums. All support goes to our young footballer.
The club will file an official complaint in the next few hours.”
