by

She escaped from the “dragons” in Oporto and left for the octade, in high spirits Inter. The Nerazzurri withstood the pressure of the Portuguese who were better on the pitch and had a goal in the 90’+5′kept zero in defense and combined with 1-0 in Milan they advanced to its quarter-finals Champions League after 12 years!

Great match suspended by Tsalkhanoglou and Mikitarian, shocking Darmian who left shortly before the end with cramps. Thus, the Nerazzurri became the second Italian team after fellow countrymen Milan to advance to the next phase pending the Naples to end the case with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The match

The pace was in the “red” from the beginning of the match with the Porto to be the one who threatens first in the 3rd minute with Uribe’s deflected shot which was chased away with overpowering Onana in the corner. Inter did not seem to have found their footing on the field until the 15th minute, as a result of which the “dragons” took measures. In the 20th minute, Eustakios found himself outside the area and to the left, but the low shot he attempted ended up in the arms of Onanas.

Inter’s reaction came a minute later, at transition with Barela, “carrying” the ball and “breaking” it to Dzeko who shot from the corner of the area, forcing Diogo Costa into his first intervention in the match.

The Nerazzurri picked up speed, threatening mainly from the wings with Dimarco and Dumfries. THE Taremi “wrote” another shot for Porto which ended up being out, while in the 40′ the terrible combination of Uribe, Taremi and Evanilsson, had the final recipient of the Brazilian, who shot with Dimarco to put a last minute “stop”. Just before the break, Lautaro Martinez managed to steal the ball from Eustaquios and after passing two Porto defenders, he shot from a difficult angle, with Diogo Costa blocking and keeping 0-0.

In the second half the players of Porto entered the field like “kamikaze” exerting suffocating pressure on Inter. The first shot was his Uribe in 48′ which was smart but went over the bar for Onana. The “dragons” continued at the same pace looking for the goal that would send the match to extra time, while the “nerazuri” defended with the aim of a counterattack that would end the case of qualification.

Porto believed it by “camping” in Inter’s area. In the delays o Tony Martins found himself alone on the penalty spot, he made the reverse scissor with the ball not doing him any favors.

However, the phase that decided the qualification was his 95th minute. Marcano takes the shot from inside the area, with Dumfries clearing on the line, and seconds later the Dragons have two beamswith Galeno and Grujic in consecutive headers!

Thus, Inter became the second Italian team to qualify for the quarter-finals, where they will wait to find out their opponent.

MVP: He played the match of his life in “Dragao”. Matteo Darmian. The Italian full-back from Inter Milan was called upon to play as a central defender, replacing Skriniar and white-faced Simone Inzaghi. A lot of running, excellent in his transfers and decisive with the tackles he made on two occasions inside the area, Darmian was by far the cornerstone of Inter.

The elevens:

Porto (Sergio Conceição): Diogo Costa, Pepe, Cardoso, Marcano, Sanusi (85? Wendell), Uribe (85; Namasso), Eustaquio (71? Franco), Grujic, Evanilsson (71? Martines), Galeno, Taremi.

Inter (Simone Inzaghi): Onana, Bastoni (74? De Bruyne), Acerbi, Darmian (80? Skriniar), Dumfries, Dimarco (70? D’Ambrosio), Tsalhanoglou, Barela (80? Brozovic), Mkhitaryan, Dzeko (70? Lukaku), Lautaro.
