KAE Panathinaikos: A team with PAO BC Academy and Special Olympics Hellas

The first competition training of typical and non-typical athletes of Special Olympics Hellas and PAO BC Academy took place at the training center of OAKA, as announced by Panathinaikosin the framework of the social responsibility program of the “green” KAE.

The first training session of formal and non-formal athletes took place at the OAKA training ground, with the aim of promoting social inclusion and a world where everyone is equal.

Within the framework of KAE’s social responsibility program and aiming to promote the concept of equality and uniqueness in society, in collaboration with Special Olympics Hellas, the participants of the EMU TEAM program and the children’s department of the PAO BC Academy participated in an inclusive training, typical and non-typical athletes, at the OAKA training ground.

The ambassadors of the ONE TEAM program of the 2022-2023 season, Paris Lee and Derrick Williams, as well as Lefteris Bohorides and Lefteris Mantzoukas, were active throughout the action.

The athletes of Special Olympics Hellas and PAO BC Academyshowed that they were happy with their souls, as they had the opportunity to train, play and chat with their favorite basketball players, but also to develop friendly relations between them.

He gave the “present” in the competition training the President of the Special Olympics Mr. Dionysis Kodellas and the President of KAE Panathinaikos, Mr. Vassilis Parthenopoulos.

He was with them the Director of the Educational Program “We play together. We learn together”, Ms. Natalia Andrianopoulou, while Mr. Giorgos Kalaitzis attended on behalf of PAO BC Academy”.

The President of Special Olympics HELLAS, Mr. Dionysis Kodellas stated: “For one more year we are in the warm embrace of KAE Panathinaikos, within the framework of the EMU TEAM program of the Euroleague where once again our children, our athletes, have come to train together with Panathinaikos athletes. I talked about the warm embrace. It’s not just that. KAE Panathinaikos has not only opened its arms to the Special Olympics, it has also opened its heart. We feel this every moment, we have an excellent partnership. I want to thank the President who personally gave a great impetus to this relationship, to the bilateral relationship between KAE Panathinaikos and the Special Olympics team, which has only positive results.”

On his part the president of KAE Panathinaikos, Mr. Vassilis Parthenopoulosemphasized:

“KAE Panathinaikos, the biggest Greek team, with perennial distinctions, is an important social phenomenon with millions of supporters. With as much power as this support gives us, we want to condemn any form of exclusion of people with any form of disability and send a clear message of their acceptance and inclusion at all levels of social life. We also participate in the ongoing integration process, with the aim of definitively eliminating the phenomena of discrimination against people with special needs.”

Our team’s ONE TEAM AMBASSADOR, Paris Lee, said: “Along with Derrick Williams we are delighted to be a part of this action. As Euroleague ambassadors for the EMU TEAM program, it is very important for us to see the children happy and smiling, to interact and do activities like this with them.”

The other ambassador of the ONE TEAM program, Derrick Williams noted: “Today we have special guests with our Academy in conjunction with the One Team program. You know, it’s great to see all the kids smiling, enjoying lots of activities. The main thing is to keep them smiling, make sure the kids are having fun and that’s why me and Paris are here, to bring that excitement and hopefully everything will go well.”
