Stoiximan Super League: Now the good stuff begins!

VOLOS – OLYMPIC


Olympiacos and Volos have met eight times in their history at home and away for the Super League and the Red and Whites have six wins, while two matches have ended in draws, one in Magnesia and one in Piraeus.

This is the first participation of Volos in the Playoffs process and until now all its encounters with Olympiacos were for the regular duration of the championship. The Magnesia team becomes the 13th to participate in this process in the years that the Playoffs are held in all formats from the Super League.

Volos drew at home to Olympiakos in their first year in the division in 2019-20 and that 0-0 draw was followed by three wins for the Piraeus side in Volos and was the only game the Reds failed to score against in the Volos team.

Olympiacos’ 4-0 victory in the regular season against Volos is the biggest away from home, while the record at an independent home is held by the first meeting in their history, on September 14, 2019, when Olympiacos prevailed 5-0.

ARIS – PAOK


Aris maintains an unbeaten streak of three games against PAOK at home, which concern the regular season and the Playoffs of the championship. This performance was a part of the general unbeaten streak that lasted for five consecutive matches home and away against PAOK, which was broken in the match between PAOK and Aris 1-0 for the Second Round of this year’s championship. In these five matches, Aris had not even conceded a goal.

The last goal of PAOK at the home of Aris is on April 21, 2021 for the Playoffs of the championship, with Schwab scoring the goal and with that Dikefalos wins 1-0. Since then, until January 4, 2023 when Ingason scored for PAOK 1-0 in Toumba, Aris had kept a clean sheet.

Aris and PAOK will face each other for the 63rd time in their history at the level of the first national team. The Red and Blacks have so far scored 22 wins, PAOK have 15 and 25 of their games have ended in a draw.

In victories, Aris counts 8 to 1-0, while PAOK divides its firsts between 1-0 and 2-1 which have appeared five times.

Apostolos Terzis as the official coach was called to lead Aris in the first round derby which ended in a goalless draw and that was his third derby with PAOK and all have ended in a draw, the last two with 0-0 and his first with 2-2.

AEK – PANATHINAIKOS


This is the 72nd meeting between the two teams with AEK at home, who have won 30 of those games, Panathinaikos have won 23 and 18 matches have ended in a draw.

The most popular result in these 71 home games for AEK is a 1-0 home win with 12 appearances, followed by a 2-0 win for Panathinaikos with 10 appearances. In third place and the most popular tie score of the two teams is 1-1 with 8 appearances, while right after are the 7 derbies where no goals have been scored.

Mimis Papaioannou, who recently passed away, is AEK’s top scorer in AEK – Panathinaikos matches and is tied for first place with four goals with Antonis Antoniadis and Haris Grammos. Of the footballers still playing, Sergio Araujo has three goals in home derbies.

In the regular season of this year’s championship, AEK prevailed 1-0 thanks to Pineda’s goal (68′), while Panathinaikos won 2-1 at home.

AEK maintained their unbeaten run at their new stadium for 14 matches in all competitions and this was broken by Olympiakos in the final matchday of the league and their 3-1 victory.

Panathinaikos’ last away win against AEK was on December 6, 2020 with 2-1 at OAKA for the 11th game then, while their last match against AEK at home for the Playoffs ended in a goalless draw on May 8, 2022.
