Loutsescu: “Greek football would be better if there was no hypocrisy”

by

In detail, what he said:

Greek football would be much better if there was no hypocrisy. It’s a tense time. I can’t get into these low level discussions. Unfortunately, football in Greece is very complicated. I think Greece would have a stronger league and better representation in Europe if it wasn’t for this hypocrisy and all sorts of system that works to the benefit of the Athens teams.

But life goes on, we must always be mentally prepared to face and overcome all the disappointments we encounter during a season. VAR and the referees cost us many points. If everything worked normally, we could say that we are in the ring for the championship. But we have been through worse, they stole a title from us, they stole a Cup from us. These things happen very often and are always at the expense of PAOK, because we are from Thessaloniki.

Athens has strength, a system around them and manages to turn VAR into a tool that they use especially in matches where there are no referees from abroad. All of these situations make us stronger and make it easier for us to overcome disappointments».

Regarding Aris’ match with PAOK, he said:The matches in Greece are very emotionally charged. They live there on Mars only to stop PAOK. The fact that they were 1-0 up and we overturned the result brought great disappointment to the fans. Then they started throwing bottles and other objects. There was also my own reaction, I took a glass and pretended to throw it towards the stand, but without actually throwing it. The VAR announced that I threw something and so I was sent off».
