Triumph for the National Boxing Team at the World Cup – Greece’s first in the world

Anna Maria Triphylli won the Gold Medal at the Boxing World Cup in Montenegro and the World Top Female Athlete Title for the first time.

A Silver Medal was brought to Greece by the dynamic Ioanna Kantzari and 3 Bronzes were won by our exceptional Athletes Danai Zenunllari, Thomas Boditsopoulos and Nikos Kalyvakis.

Our National Youth Team triumphed in Budva, Montenegro, in the context of the Boxing World Cup, proving once again why Greek Boxing is the rising power of the Sport.

Our Greek Sportsmen and Women won 5 Medals, one Gold, one Silver and 3 Bronze and were first in all categories. Greece became World Champion with Anna Maria Triphylli winning the Gold Medal for our country and the title of Best Fighter of the World Organization for the first time.

In detail at the Boxing World Cup held in Montenegro, the National Youth Team excelled in yet another major event, offering unique moments of pride, joy and emotion to the fans of the sport.

In particular, Anna Maria Triphylli in the final of her category (48 kg) defeated the Turkala opponent of Isik Filiz and won the Gold Medal, while she was rightly named the Best Fighter of the World Cup.

Ioanna Kantzari (54 kg) in the final match against Bibianna Lovasova gave a sensational fight in the ring but eventually lost, winning the Silver Medal.

Three Bronze Medals were awarded to Greece by Danai Zenunllari, Thomas Boditsopoulos and Nikos Kalyvakis.

Danai Zenunllari, (60 kg) fought hard in the ring and despite her very good appearance, she did not manage to overcome the obstacle of Tokareva from Russia, but left an excellent impression with her dynamic presence.

For the 54 kg category, in the semi-final, Thomas Bouditsopoulos faced Azero Omar Asanli, but an injury to the lower leg of the Greek Athlete forced him to withdraw, thus losing the right to claim victory and his entry into the final of his category.

Nikos Kalyvakis in the semi-final of his category (60 kg) faced the Russian Bilal Dakaev, he fought strongly in the ring but lost by unanimous decision.
