The management of STASY responds to the complaints of employees regarding the operation of fire safety and ventilation in stations of Metro line 1, (old ISAP).

As he points out, among other things, the entire length of the tunnel, as well as in the stations, a fire-fighting network equipped with a fire detection system is installed and operating, as well as automatic ventilation systems are installed and operating, as well as sufficient lighting along the underground section.

In detail, the STASY announcement is as follows:

“Following the public reports, regarding the operation of the Line 1 network and in particular the Monastiraki – Attiki section and with the aim of responsibly informing the passenger public, STA.SY points out the following:

* Along the entire length of the tunnel, as well as at the stations, a fire-fighting network equipped with a fire detection system is installed and operating.

* Autonomous ventilation systems are installed and operating in the underground tunnel, while at the points of connection with Lines 2 and 3 of the Metro, the operation of the system is in a phase of further strengthening.

* A ventilation and air conditioning system is installed at OMONIA station. The ventilation system is operational and adequate to remove smoke from the docks if required. The air conditioning system is undergoing maintenance to be available before summer.

* Along the underground section there is sufficient lighting with lamps placed both in the middle and on the side walls. In the event of an emergency and their operation stops, backup safety lighting is automatically activated. In addition, along the underground section between MONASTIRAKI – ATTICA stations there are escape exits every 250m. approximately, with the required signage, to direct the traveling public towards them. The escape exits are also released manually by the trained staff of STA.SY, but they are also remotely controlled by the Control Center. In addition, the escape hatch grates also help to ventilate the tunnel.

* In 2022, for line 1, 140 technical service workers and 20 conductors were trained in safe work on or near the track and within 2023 the training of 80 more conductors is expected to be completed. In addition, retraining of train drivers in matters of health and safety at work is planned.
