EEC: Looking for players with Greek roots in the USA

As part of the program Greeks Abroad, EEC is looking for players with Greek roots and talent all over the world. The head of the EEC Development Program, Kostas Tsartsaris and the head of Greeks Abroad and coach of the U16 National Team, Giannis Kalambokis will travel to New York from March 28th to April 2nd to make various contacts with such cases.

Greek basketball has traditionally found… gold abroad, with the most typical cases being those of Nikos Galis, Nick Kalathis and more recently Tyler Dorsey. One of the interesting cases is his Stevie Mitchellthe 20-year-old guard who plays at the famous Marquette College, while it is recalled that interest in playing with the Greek colors has also been expressed the son of Peja Stojakovic and Alexa Kamila, Andreiwho from the new season will be in a very good college (academically and basketball) Stanford and is considered one of the best talents in the USA.

The EEC announcement:

The “Greeks Abroad” program created by the EEC will have its first group event in New York from 3/28 – 4/2. The goal of the program is to find young female and male athletes from all over the world with Greek roots and, in addition to identifying and monitoring their athletic progress, to gain direct contact with basketball people from the country of their ancestors.

The head of the EEC Development Program, Kostas Tsartsaris and the head of “Greeks Abroad” and coach of the U16 National Team, Yannis Kalambokis will travel to the USA and oversee the camp events, which are not only training but there will be many others useful activities for children.

The two federal coaches are invited to the camp, which is organized by the expatriate gymnast and coach of the Super League Athletic Academy Dimitris Pristouris (James Pristouris), will be held at the facilities of the Archangel Michael community in Port Washington, and is aimed at boys and girls born from in 2005 and after.

On the SLAA platform, second-generation Greeks can register, and from the teams that will be formed, a child will be selected at the end who will travel to Greece and train with the National Team of his respective age group.

The program includes seminars with coaches from the G League as well as from High School, while there is provision for gifts for participants wearing Greek National Team jerseys.
