“Broken” Panathinaikos headquarters and Olympiacos embraces the championship!

In a thriller match at the closed Avenue, Olympiacos managed to “break” Panathinaikos home by winning 66-60 in the third final, made it 3-1 in the series and wants a victory against the “greens” on Sunday (2/4 ) at SEF to celebrate the second consecutive A1 women’s basketball championship.

Excited performance from the “red and white” who, despite being behind the score for 33 minutes, turned the tables with a match-match performance in the fourth quarter.

The match:

The first period started with Panathinaikos taking a 6-3 lead and Olympiakos being very off target with 1/11 shots. Gustafson reduced 6-5 with two balls, but Potter and Alexandris sent Panathinaikos to 11 just before the end of the quarter (16-5). The second quarter started with Stamolambrou bringing the score to 16-7 with a three-pointer, giving Olympiakos the impetus to counterattack. The “red and white” did not hesitate after the 4-0 of Panathinaikos with a run of their own they “gnawed” the difference to -9 with Ayouso making it 29-21. In fact, Ayouso with 2/2 shots extended Olympiakos’ streak to 8-0 reducing it to 29-27. At 45 seconds before halftime, Alexandra with a nice effort brought the score to 33-27 which was also the halftime score.

The second half started with Potter and Carter once again shooting the difference to double digits for Panathinaikos (39-29) with Ayousso and Gustafson reducing it to three (41-38). Hairistianidou with four consecutive points extended the “green” lead making it 45-39, while afterwards a technical penalty was given to the Olympiakos bench for protesting with the third quarter ending with the difference at +6 for Panathinaikos (49-43). . At the start of the fourth period, Olympiacos managed to reduce the score to 49-48 with Gustafson and then take the lead with Nikolopoulou, for the first time since the start of the match. Ayouso brought the visitors to +3 again while the formidable Gustafson made it 49-54 five minutes before the end, forcing Eleni Capogianni to call a time-out, seeing Olympiakos run 11-0 and her team remained scoreless.
