THE EPO issued an announcement regarding the arrival of elite referees following its playoffs Stoiximan Super League.
In it, the Federation reports step by step the moves made on this piece in the last few days. He points out on the one hand that Takis Baltakos was informed while he was in Nyon about the communication between the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Alexander Ceferin, as well as that he responded positively to UEFA’s proposal to provide assistance in finding elite referees.
The EPO announcement
In order to restore the truth regarding the arrival of elite referees in the continuation of the playoffs, we announce the following.
a) The President of EPO went to Nyon on Tuesday 28.03.2023.
b) There he was informed that the Prime Minister Mr. Mitsotakis had contacted the President of UEFA a few days before asking for elite referees.
c) He was also informed that SL1 had also sent a corresponding letter.
d) Until Tuesday, UEFA had not taken any action because according to its statute it only acts at the request of the National Federation.
e) The President of the EPO was asked if he agrees to provide assistance in this matter and following his positive answer a letter was requested.
f) The letter was sent the following day, Wednesday 29.3.2023.
g) In the afternoon of the same day and after sending the letter of the President of the UEFA, the order was given to the relevant bodies of UEFA to contact Mr. Bennett to provide the relevant assistance requested by the President of the UEFA.
