Defeat 3-2 in the first final of the Europe Cup for Enebon of Sgouropoulos

by

Enebon of Yannis Sgouropoulos equalized the score twice against Dzialdovo in the first final of the 2022-2023 table tennis Europe Cup, but in the end “bent” in the details 3-2 set, but of course everything is open for the second final that will take place next Tuesday in France and will decide the champion.

The balanced match lasted three hours and gave a spectacle and emotions to a hall filled with people. The Greek European junior champion was selected for the starting trio and was defeated in a very difficult match against an Asian opponent. Of course, he recorded another milestone moment in his career and became the third Greek table tennis player to compete in a European Cup final with a foreign club after Kallinikos Kreanga and Panagiotis Gionis.

Sgouropoulos entered the table in the crucial third match and with the team score at 1-1. He gave it his all against Kai Konishi, another very experienced athlete of recognized value, until he was down 3-0. He lost the first and third sets in overtime, but the bad thing is that he was “chasing” the score in all sets. At the start, he saved a set point and later two match points and just missed something more to put even more pressure on the Japanese penholder.

Its use in the final is for Sgouropoulos a reward for his contribution to the successful European course and for his competitive improvement in the last period of time.
