Belgrade doesn’t go his way: Five consecutive defeats for Olympiakos, with the last “joy” in 2020!

Sequel to a not so… good delivery at Belgradegave Olympic after his defeat with 87-79 by Red Star for the penultimate (33rd) matchday of the Euroleague, before the start of the playoffs.

Specifically, his team Giorgos Bartzokas experienced its second defeat on Serbian soil this season, as apart from the defeat by the “red and white” Belgrade, it was also defeated by Zeljko Obradović’s Partizan with 90-75 for the 30th matchday of the European competition.

However, the bad results in Belgrade are not only seen this season. If you go back to last year’s results, you will see that Olympiacos had three defeats and not all of them were against Serbian teams!

Initially, he was defeated by Red Star in Pioneer Hall with 81-76 for the 14th matchday of the Euroleague falling at that point in time to 9-5 in the standings. At the end of the season, Olympiacos managed to reach the Final Four held in Stark Arena of Belgrade and data, the results did not develop as expected…

In the semi-final, his three-pointer Vasily Misic in the end it gave Anatolou Efes the qualification to the final (74-77), which had the effect of pitting Olympiacos against Barcelona for the minor final and third place in the Euroleague. There, in a game without particular interest and with fatigue affecting the performance of both teams, the “red and white” experienced defeat with 84-74 and finished in fourth place in the event.

Somehow, to find the last victory of Olympiakos in Belgrade we have to go back to December 2020, when they prevailed with 81-79 of Red Star with a major protagonist George Printezis who scored 16 points and hit the winning basket 3.2” before the final!

Worth mentioning that night, Vassilis Spanoulis with 14 points reached 4,322 to become the leading scorer in EuroLeague and Champions Cup history, surpassing Juan Carlos Navarro who scored 4,321.
