The “red and white” defeated Baskonia in SEF for its last (34th) matchday EuroLeague and secured 1st place in the regular season! They became, like this, the first Greek teamwith this format in the event, which finishes at the top of the regular season.
Of course, with the dominance of the Piraeus they are formed new data in regards to their potential playoff opponent. More specifically, Olympiacos definitively “saves” the Partizan of Željko Obradović and has three… options in front of him: Baskonia, Fenerbahce or Maccabi. However, everything will become clear after tomorrow’s (14/4) games, as well as tonight’s, which is in progress and is becoming a terrible derby, between Maccabi and Real.
It should be noted that for the Basques of Baskonia it makes things very difficult after the defeat in Faliro, in order to finish in 8th place, since, to enter the playoffs, Zalgiris must lose on Good Friday to an indifferent Bayern in Munich.
In any case, if they come on Good Friday the most normal resultsi.e. if Zalgiris in Munich and Partizan beat Panathinaikos, then:
a) if Maccabi beats Real, Fener goes 8th and plays Olympiacos.
b) if Maccabi loses to Real, Maccabi goes 8th and plays Olympiacos.
Of course, if Zalgiris loses tomorrow, Olympiacos will play Baskonia.
