The opportunity to secure the qualification to the second qualifying phase of the 2023 World Championship has the national Men’s handball team that welcomes today (15:00) Kosovo in Heraklion, in the context of the 4th match for the 1st group of the first phase.
In case of victory, the team of George Zaravinas will reach eight points in four games and will secure a place in the top two of the group standings, which gives the “ticket” for the second qualifying phase.
The representative team overcame the problems with the lack of preparation and absences due to injuries and coronavirus and celebrated the victory in Pristina with 21-20, despite being lined up in the match with 14 teams and four players made their debut with the National in this game.
The 16 athletes who will be the mission of the Men’s National Team in Sunday’s match against Kosovo, were announced by the federal coach: Terletski, Kostakidis, Tzortzinis, Liapis, Mallios, Michailidis, Passias, Boupoungos, Karampos, Karampos, Karampikos Kalomiros, Arabatzis.

The match of the Greek team with Kosovo will be refereed by the Poles Jakub Gerletski and Maciej Lambun, while, in the other game for the 4th match of the 1st group, Belgium defeated Turkey last night (8/1, 21:15) 37-28 in the city of Hasselt.
The remaining games of the men’s national team in the first qualifying phase of the World Championship are scheduled for January 13-16. Initially, the representative team will host Belgium on 13/1 (19:15) in the closed “Dyo Aorakia” of Heraklion, while the “blue and white” will complete its obligations in the 1st group on January 16 (13:00) against Turkey in the city of Aksaray.
