The qualification to Final 4 of the Basketball Champions League celebrated the Bonn on Tuesday night (18/04), winning in a thriller match 83-77 of Strasbourg in the third and last game of the series for the quarterfinals of the institution!
Putting in an excellent performance – mainly on the defensive side – at last quarterwhere the ball… was on fire and pulses were racing, the Germans proved essential at crucial points, making them second only to Murthy which ensures its presence at Fina 4!
Leading for the winners was J Shorts with 24 points, with Hawkins and Herrera to follow with 15 and 13 respectively. For Strasbourg, it was touching Tim Fraser with 20 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
The match:
The start of the match was excellent, as both teams entered the court aggressively, playing at a high tempo. With Hawkins off to a “hot” start, the Bonn led 12-8 at 4′ and 17-14 at 6′. In the last three minutes of the first period, however, Strasburg increased its performance and with a partial score of 12-4, closed the quarter at +5 for 26-21.
In fact, with five consecutive points by the former AEK ace, Tim Fraser, the French upped the ante at +10 (25-35) at 13′, maintaining a good lead until the end of the quarter, before the Germans found some big shots in the final two minutes to reduce to 46-44 of the half.
Bonn entered the second half with an acquired speed, where with an unanswered 8-0 run they took the lead after a long time (52-46). From then on, the match went point-to-point, with the lead changing hands several times, and the French closing the third quarter at +2 for 65-63.
By J Shorts scoring six points, Bonn ran an impressive 10-0 streak for overtaking and +9 (76-67) at 35′. The visitors counter-attacked in the remaining minutes, but were unable to reduce the score to 4, with the Germans picking up pink cards with the final 83-77.
