Kammenou: “We showed passion and improvement”

by

Alexia Kammenou spoke about the problems faced by the Women’s National Polo Team ahead of the match against China, complained about the refereeing and asked for more work, expecting improvement in the next matches.

Analytically: “I said that the team also has problems with injuries and that, despite the hard work, they are still not completely ready. Nevertheless, the girls managed, with passion and improvement in their performance, to ‘turn it around’ and take the important victory.

Although the refereeing was tragic, especially in the last eight minutes. However, these things happen and we should deal with them calmly, as we did. The team will only get better from here on out. In some areas we are still behind and we need work, but you will see that in both Log Beach and Fukuoka the team will be much changed for the better. The girls, however, give their souls and that pleases me very much.”

Haris Pavlidis said: “I am pleased with our performance, we had a very good first half, we controlled the tempo and could have won. But, from one point on, we lost control, mistakes were made and, thus, the Greek team, with its quality and experience, managed to win the match, congratulations. Our own team has some absences that affect us, but I think with their return then, we will be better.”

Nicole Eleftheriadou emphasized that: “We expected that this particular game would be difficult, but we didn’t start well, we didn’t come in focused. Nevertheless, the will we showed in the last two eight minutes counts, we made the turnaround and got the result that brings us very close to qualifying.

We want to win both the game against Australia and the one against Spain, but also in all the following ones. The national team must show its good face and win all the games, because it always aims high”.
