Konstantinidis: “Let’s represent Greek football in a worthy way”

by

Analytically: “The draw brought us a very competitive group with strong and quality teams. Norway knocked out France and Iceland knocked out England, which shows the high degree of difficulty in the group, which includes a traditional powerhouse of European football, Spain.

We knew before the draw that there are no easy opponents in the final phase, but I have faith in the potential and quality of the Youth National Team. The big goal of being in the final phase of the European Youth Championship has already been achieved. However, this is not enough for us and we will all strive for the best possible result.

Going into this process, we will all be looking to be competitive, as we always do. The whole journey of the final phase will help players and staff to progress as a team and I believe we will do our best to represent Greek football at the top level.”

The federal coach, Anastasios Theos, stated that the whole team will give everything to go as far as possible in the tournament.

Analytically: “Our presence at EURO 2023 is the culmination of a two-year football journey, ‘sealing’ the return of Greece to the top football level and among the top teams in Europe. The success of our presence in the final stage takes on greater significance when we consider that giants of European football, such as England, France, Germany and Serbia will not participate in it, as they were left out.

With our performances and unbeaten run from the first qualifying round and the Elite Round, we proved that we rightfully deserved a place at EURO 2023. The draw brought our way the eventual winners, Spain, as well as two more outstanding teams, such as Norway, which excluded France, and Iceland, which left out the trophy holder England. We will go to Malta not only for the applause and participation, but with the aim of going far in the competition and hearing the National Anthem as the final.”
