Her intention KAE AEK to take legal action for her exterminating punishment which was imposed on it by FIBA for what happened at the Ano Liosion Indoor Stadium and in the match with Hapoel Jerusalem expressed speaking on the show “Instant Replay” o Giorgos Khinas.
In particular, the General Director of the “Union” emphasized, among other things, that the club is seriously considering appeal to CAS, with final decisions and announcements to be announced by tomorrow, with the aim of appealing the penalty imposed on the team for behind closed doors of ALL games next season in the Basketball Champions League
The statements of Giorgos Hina:
For this year’s course of AEK in the BCL: “Of course we are satisfied. We initially started with the first objective of going to the next stage, then we went into a group with Galatasaray and Malaga, where we were not favourites. We made continuous overshoots and at the end of the day I think this course has a positive sign.”
On everything that happened in Game 3 with Hapoel: “I can elegantly say that things happened that are far from the organization of a basketball match, let alone a European one. We have to separate a bit what happened in Liosia, which was unacceptable, in terms of the fans of the visiting team, and what happened against our team. That set the tone for yesterday’s game, which I would indulgently describe as a ‘jungle’ atmosphere.”
As to whether AEK was affected by all of this: “This has had a huge impact on the team and all of us. All week, as much as we didn’t want to, we were discussing what the penalty would be and what would happen next season. A climate was created and it certainly affected both the team and yesterday’s (19/04) referees, not in the sense that they wronged AEK, but in the sense that they tolerated a situation that is far from the organization of a European match”.
For the actions that KAE AEK will take: “We tried a little to keep things low key ahead of the 3rd match, but from tomorrow our actions and reactions will start, which will be in two areas. On the one hand, what happened to Hapoel cannot happen again in our stadium, and AEK has assumed its responsibilities and will announce actions to prevent something like this from happening again, to the extent that it can control it. The second part is the appeal that will be made, because we are talking about a sentence that we consider devastating and we really believe that if the whole matter had not reached a political level, maybe there would not have been such a sentence. We are discussing our appeal to CAS and will announce it tomorrow. I think the appeal will be made to the CAS.”
On whether discussions have started with the Eurocup for the new season: “Because we’ve been waiting for this series to be over so we can assess the situation afterwards, we haven’t gone into such deep discussions about what we’re going to do next season.”
About AEK’s ambitions in the A1 play-offs: “We will try to give our best. We have a home advantage against Peristeri, we start on Sunday (23/04). Obviously, we must now concentrate on this goal, because there is no other. I think we have shown that we have a solid team. We will claim our chances to continue.”
