Djokovic family: “He endured torture, he stood tall in a system”

by

His family’s press conference was solemn Novak Djokovic. The father, mother and brother of the Serbian tennis player described his (temporary) justification as the biggest victory of his career, talking about the triumph of freedom over a system. In fact, they complained that the Australian authorities abused “Nole”.

His father, Serjan, stressed: «We gathered here to celebrate Novak’s victory. They tried to force him to sign his visa waiver in order to deport him more easily. He refused because he realized that there was no basis for it. He would never consent to such a thing. They took his phone, did not let him contact anyone, not even his lawyers to prepare his defense. He stayed with them only for a few hours. In the end he got a huge victory, for himself, his family and the whole free world. I hope to gather here again in three weeks to celebrate his victory at the Australian Open. The Australian authorities did not know what they were doing. Novak will win ten more Grand Slams now».

His mother, Diana, stated: «Novak is not guilty of anything. He did nothing against the law. He followed all legal procedures and endured torture. He stood up to such a system because he believes he has the right to stay in Australia to compete on the basis of the visa he obtained. We have never faced such a difficult situation. It is a situation that mothers understand. His vindication is the biggest victory of his career, bigger than any he has taken on the courts».

His brother, George, pointed out in turn: “It is very difficult to defend our man without offending anyone. Novak did everything he could to prove the truth. We would like to thank the Australian legal system and Judge Kelly for conducting an objective trial and examining the facts alone, from Novak’s visa application to the trial. Novak is a big winner, a champion. Immediately after his vindication he went to the stadium for training. He is an honest man».
