Statements after yesterday’s (7/5) Manchester City’s home win against Leeds was made by the midfielder of the “citizens”, Bernardo Silvatalking about his team’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Real Madrid.
The Portuguese stressed that it would be foolish to disrespect the “Queen”, adding however that he and his team-mates are not afraid, while expressing the opinion that if Real did not have Benzema, Modric, Kroos and Vinicius on their roster, they would not he had conquered nothing.
What the City midfielder said in detail:
“We respect Real Madrid a lot, but we are not afraid of them. Why should we be afraid of her? We will try to maintain the good momentum we have created for the past two months and we are very optimistic. They won the Champions League last year and that happened because they are a very good team.
It has nothing to do with the weight of the jersey. If Real didn’t have Benzema, Modric, Kroos, Vinicius, they wouldn’t have got anything. The jersey is not enough by itself.
We’d be fools if we didn’t respect Real Madrid. However, our goal is to qualify, knowing that last year we were eliminated under difficult circumstances. This time we will try for a different result”.
