The Greek assessment tables for May from EFOEPA

by

The EFOEPA rankings for May did not provide any changes at the top, but are of keen interest as they also relate to the efforts of many children to secure places in the National age group teams for the summer’s major table tennis events.

This year, in fact, it is possible for more of our internationals to participate in the individual events of the Under 15 and Under 19 Balkan Championship, namely up to six athletes and the same number of athletes in each category, because our country is the “host” in Orestiada, 28/06-02/ 07.

For the May rankings, the results from the Panhellenic Championship for teenagers and young adults, the Panhellenic Championship for boys and girls, the final of the development tournaments, the Local Attica Cup and the postponed meetings in the A1 National category were calculated.

The four champions of Greece 2023 in the small categories naturally had a substantial advantage in points and Sokratis Giannoutsos rose in the ranking. He went number 2 in the juniors and made the top five of the Young men.

Malamatenia Papadimitriou remains first in juniors and young women, just like Giorgos Kosmas second in boys, while Qi Xinyu of Chinese origin achieved a new rise in girls (No. 2), but she still does not have the right to compete with the Greek colors.

The ranking, which will count for the National teams, is the next one and will be released on June 1st. Among the top five categories were Iakovos Aivatidis of AEK in the Young men, falling to number 7 from April 5, Katerina Alexoudis of Ethnikos Alexandroupolis, who lost one place in the juniors and young women (at No. 6 out of 5 ) and Paraskevi Spanou (Sarises Florina) in pankorasides, who also fell to No. 6 (out of 5).

There were many notable changes in the first 15 positions of the tables. Among the women, Stella Tzaridou of CHANTH moved to number 13 from April 17. In the Young men and teenagers Dimitris Sotiropoulos and Yiannis Anastasiadis of Faros Alexandroupoli rose significantly in the rankings. Sotiropoulos was in positions 13 and 9 (from 20 and 14 respectively last month) and Anastasiadis in 14 and 10 (from 25 and 17).

In the teenagers, Konstantinos Sotiriou (Sarises Florina) went to number 15 (out of 22). In the Young Women and Junior Girls, Angeliki Eumorfiadis (Alexandroupoli National Team) rose to 14th and 13th place (from 21st and 17th respectively).

Among the boys, Theofanis Mitkas of Ethnikos Alexandroupolis moved to No. 6 (from 9), Dimitris Tziamalidis of Filia Orestiada entered the top ten (exactly No. 10 from 12), while Miltiadis Tsepis (Diogenis Patras) went to No. 14 ( from 22).

Among the girls, Angela Noure of Orion Chios rose to number 7 from April 11 and Aphrodite Maroulis (OA Chania) to number 15 from 19.

In the pampaids, Raphael Noulas of Ethnikos Alexandroupolis appears at number 9 (out of 17) and in the pankorasides, Natalia Kapagiannidou of ASEA Kavala at 10 (out of 15).
