The Portuguese left back turns 28 today (09/05), with the “black and white” PAE wishing him a happy birthday.

“The PAOK family wholeheartedly wishes Rafa Soares, who turns 28 today, a happy birthday with health, happiness and many successes both on a personal and team level.
Rafa Soares was born on 09.05.1995 in Marco de Canavences in the region of Porto. He joined Alpentorada’s academy and proved to be talented. The course of his journey was prescribed.
He joined the legendary Porto academies. He played in all the minor teams of the Dragons, competed with the U19 in the Youth League and reached the second team, making his professional debut in the second division in August 2013, while he was anointed an international with the minor national teams of his country, playing in 2015 U20 World Cup.
After two full seasons in the second division with Porto B, in January 2016 he was loaned to Academica, with whom he played his first 15 games in the top flight.
The following season he wore the shirt of Rio Ave. There he found space to develop his competitive qualities, immediately became a starter and ended the season with 38 appearances, three goals and five assists.
He returned to Porto, but did not find a place on the roster, was loaned to Fulham and from there moved to Portimonense. There he got the time he was looking for and when, in the summer of 2018, he was released from Porto, he transferred to Vitoria Guimaraes.
In his first season he made 31 appearances with five assists, while in the second season in the first half he made another 15 appearances with one assist before leaving for Spain. Eibar gave him the chance to prove himself in La Liga and Rafa didn’t miss the opportunity, with Guimaraes loaning him out. He stayed with the Basque country team for 18 months making a total of 28 appearances.
In the 2021-22 season, Rafa Soares was one of the top defenders in the Portuguese league. He played in 34 games, scoring two goals while dishing out eight assists in the most productive season of his career.
His contract with Vitoria was completed and PAOK found in him the player who would cover the left end of their defense.
