The 35-year-old Turkish Yunus Ocal, who this year led AEK to win the Cup, is the new coach of the Women’s National Volleyball Team.
The announcement:
Yunus Ocal is the new coach of the women’s national volleyball team, succeeding Marcelo Abondanza.
The 35-year-old technician (born on 02.08.1988) was “introduced” to Greek Volleyball last summer, as he was the direct partner of Marcelo Abondanza in the path of the representative group towards the final phase of the 2023 European Championship.
From the beginning of November, Ocal assumed the technical leadership of AEK, with which he celebrated the conquest of the Women’s Cup.
The Turkish technician from a young age chose the path of coaching as at the age of 20 (2006) he found himself in the coaching team of Eczac?bas?, staying with the team until 2018.
In the summer of 2018, he “moved” to Hava Yollari (Turk Hava Yollar?), to be followed the next year (2019) by Marcelo Abondanza, but from 2022 Yunus Ocal is in Greece, now assuming the role of the federal coach in the women’s national team.
Yunus Ocal’s partners and the National Women’s training schedule will be announced in the coming days.
The Board of Directors of EOPE and the whole family of Hellenic Volleyball wish good luck to Yunus Ocal and the National Women’s Team.
