He passed away George Christovasilis. The man, who for 15 years was in his head PAS Ioannina being the longest-serving team president in the history of Epirus, he passed away after a long-term battle with cancer.
During his days PAS experienced some of the greatest moments in its historyculminating in the exit to Europe and the four matches he played in the summer of 2016, while the team reached the Stoiximan Super League playoffs last year and reached the semi-finals of the Cup twice more (2010, 2021).
His sons, George and Panagiotis, have already taken over, since a few days ago the transfer of the shares to them was formally approved by the Professional Sports Committee. Now the two children of the historical leader of the Ioannina team each own 44.775% of PAE’s shares.

That day that we would never want to come, unfortunately has dawned. Our beloved president, George Christovasilis, passed away. All this time he fought with courage and dignity even though the battle was unequal. A wonderful man who, since 2008 when he took over as owner of the club, managed to write the most golden pages in the history of P.A.S. GIANNINA and be remembered as the best president “Ajax of Epirus” ever had.
Giorgos Christovasilis was the longest serving president in the history of the club and the man who made P.A.S. YANNINA. In his 15 years of office, he managed to lay the foundations so that P.A.S. to establish themselves in the first professional division and to be a respectable opponent for all, with a greater achievement going out to Europe in the 2015-16 season. It was the first European summer of “Ajax of Epirus”, and the highlight of the club with the 4 matches against Oudts and Alkmaar, moments that will remain forever in the memory of all Epirus. At the same time, he came very close to the dream of a Greek Cup final, since twice the team reached the semi-final stage of the institution.
