On the weekend of 13 and 14/05, the 14th and last competition took place in the second national women’s table tennis category of France (the so-called Pro B) with the athletes of our National team, Katerina Toliou and Elisabeth Terpoux, present.
Toliou, who had already started her career in foreign leagues in this category nine years ago, strengthened Rennes 1. After two rounds, her team took fourth place.
Terpou, which has been consistently competing in the Mediterranean country for the last few years, wore the jersey of Issy Le Moulineau this year, just played a few matches due to injury problems. Her own club finished in seventh place and, albeit with difficulty, ensured that she will be in Pro B next year as well.
The league is over for both teams and they are not participating in playoffs or playoffs. However, the playoffs in the respective men’s category are coming to an end. Saint-Pierrez, with whom Yiannis Vlotinos played some matches this year, participates there. The team is close to staying in Pro B, but the former champion of Greece has no participation in the extra process.
On the weekend, moreover, the second phase in the National categories of France ended, where the overwhelming majority of Greek “expatriates” also compete, and at the first opportunity the relevant report will be made and published.
In the women’s Pro B, Rennes 1 lost their last match 3-2 sets away to Saint-Quentin 2. Toliou played two singles matches, first defeating England’s Emily Bolton 3-0 in sets and then losing to Russia’s Olga Mihailova with 3-2 sets.
The world number one Greek had finished the first round undefeated and finally closed the championship with an excellent record, which included 11 wins and 3 losses.
Issy Le Moulineau played in the 14th matchday as a guest against Quybe of Cornwall and suffered a 3-0 set defeat. Terpou, in her only individual match, met another athlete of Chinese origin, that is, she faced the French Li Sue and won 3-0 sets.
Troubled by her hand this season, the two-time champion of Greece in the Young women’s singles could not get the valuable experience from the second French player to the extent she wanted and completed the two rounds with 2 wins and 5 losses.
Eight teams participate in the league. In the standings, after 14 matches, Rennes took fourth place with 27 points and Issy Le Moulineau seventh with 18 points. The club of Terpu tied with the eighth St. Quentin and was favored in the calculation of the total sets from the two matches between them, where each team had an away victory with 3-1! Thus, Issy Le Moulineau achieved the goal of staying and it was Saint Quentin who were relegated to National 1.
In the men’s Pro B, the so-called play downs have progressed with the participation of Saint Pierez of Vlotinos. The four teams, which in the regular season were in the same number of places in the ranking “tail” participate and play each other in a “pool” of two rounds.
St-Pierre’s opponents are Lille Métropole 1, Bayard Argentin 1 and Istre 1. The last two teams, 11th and 12th, are relegated to National 1. St-Pierre has 4 wins and 1 loss and a matchday before the ending seems to save the category along with Istre, who shows the same tally.
