Eliasson: “I couldn’t have wished for more for my first season at AEK”

A very happy one Niklas Eliassongave an interview to the Swedish Media “Fotbollskanalen”, talking about winning the championship with AEK!

The 27-year-old winger described the experience of what he lived in the last few days as a football player of the Union as fantastic, he emphasized that he could not have wished for more for his first season in our country, while finally he focused on the goal of winning the Cup.

What the AEK footballer said in detail:



“It was amazing. It was a fantastic experience to win the championship with AEK and you would have to be there to realize how much it meant to the people here, everyone who is part of AEK and follows the team. It’s memories for a lifetime, a fantastic experience”.

“It started last week, when we returned to Athens airport from Thessaloniki. Then, 5,000 AEK fans were there, even though it was 4 in the morning. They welcomed us, showed us their appreciation and escorted us to the training center. Then it continued with the amazing support and atmosphere at the game. There were 35,000 fans in the stadium and at least as many outside”.

For the smoke detectors at the start of the match against Volos: “If you haven’t been to a derby in Athens, you should. It is an atmosphere that few have the opportunity to experience in Europe. It was a fantastic atmosphere and more intense this time as we needed just one point to secure the championship. It was something out of the ordinary.”.

For the after party: “The celebrations were crazy. First we celebrated inside the pitch after the medals and trophy were awarded, then in the locker room and in a night club that had been closed. Everyone was in a very good mood and the feeling of winning the championship is great”.

On how he rates this title: “It’s definitely the biggest thing I’ve experienced in my career. In a team that is very big here, with an incredible number of fans. To see so many people so incredibly happy because we made a season like this is something I really appreciate. It’s rare to win titles, so I really appreciate it.”.

On whether he is happy with his transfer to AEK: “Yes, I honestly couldn’t have wished for more. Now it’s the league in my first season and I’m enjoying life both on and off the field. AEK is a fantastic team and very attractive to play against, in an excellent new stadium and next year we will play European games”.

For the Cup final: “Now we are preparing for the Cup final. We are very happy and satisfied with winning the championship, as we fought for it all season, and now we want to get another title. We are excited for another cup”.
