Maldini: “We can’t compare with Inter at the moment”

by

Paolo Maldini emphasized that Inter have built a team to challenge for both the Italian league and the Champions League, unlike Milan, he believes that the “Rossoneri” played better overall than in the first semi-final, but could not cope with the game of of its opponents, asked them to enter the top four of Serie A and pointed out that everyone in the team had clarified the achievable goals for this year.

Analytically: “The distance with Inter is real. There has been no comparison in the last four games. Tonight we played a little bit better, but we were behind from the first game. The way Inter play is causing us problems and we haven’t been able to find an answer. Of course, lately we have also been fighting against teams less strong than Inter.

Our season is not over. We have a task to try to finish in the top four of Serie A and then we’ll see what happens with Juventus. Our presence in the semi-final is something great and unexpected. Of course, when you meet Inter and lose, it makes it less pretty. But we must keep our minds clear: We came this far in vain.

The point of the season, if we go to the next Champions League, will be 8. We said it last year: We are not built to compete in two competitions. We told the press and the owners, they know it. It is a path that has brought great sporting and economic results. There are many young players. Tonight there was a three-year difference in the age of the line-up against Inter. If we go to the Champions League again next year, this year will be a great season.”
