The results of the Attica Table Tennis Cup, which were recorded in the final four of the event on 30/04 at SEF, had not been validated, as there was a pending appeal by Panathinaikos for the irregular participation of the Ukrainian athlete of the Piraeus team, Margarita Pesotska (for the same reason she had not the awarding of prizes will also take place).
The Board of Directors of E.F.O.E.P.A. rejected the objection, all results stand as normal and, thus, Olympiacos won the title, Panathinaikos took second place and AEK third. We remind you that the final ended with a score of 4-0 sets for Olympiakos (with Panathinaikos submitting the objection before its start), while in the “small” final AEK won 4-1 against GAO Piraeus.
The matter initially went to the Technical Committee of the federation, which referred its judgment to the Board.
The objection for Pesotska was made on the basis of article 1.6 from Chapter A of the Federation’s General Notice of Games which states that “nationals of states that do not belong to the E.U. (third country) can only compete in the A1 and A2 National category”.
In the notification of the decision to all the clubs that participated in the Attica Women’s Cup, the Federation states, among other things:
“Articles 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, of the General Proclamation were thoroughly studied, which articles are directly related to the general possibility of participation in the competition events of the EFOEPA of transferred sportsmen and women, citizens of the E.U. and third country nationals.
Article 1.6. it focuses and specifies who is allowed to compete exclusively in the top two categories of the Hierarchy Interclub Championship, the A1 and A2 national categories. Articles 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, are linked as a unit and do not produce different interpretations.
Their aim is to transparently prohibit the participation of certain transferred foreign athletes in pan-Hellenic individual or team championships from which special ‘privileges’ derive for the competitors, such as the provision of points for the academic exams, which, however, the organization of the Cup does not provide. This does not limit the competitive participation of the above athletes in events that do not provide privileges, such as the local cup.
As a result of this, the announcement of this event in which no restriction or prohibition is indicated. A club that declares participation in the Cup, automatically accepts the conditions of the announcement.
In addition, in the organization of the Cup, the ‘value’ is used which determines the position of each competing club and which results from the first three evaluated sportsmen/athletes that each team has. In determining the ‘value’, all the athletes that each team has in its power, whether they are Greek or not, are included. Therefore, it is not possible to exclude competitions that do not produce sportsman/athlete privileges that are included and determine the ‘value’ of the team which, in fact, ‘value’ is announced before the draw of the games.
Following the above, the Board of Directors decided to reject the appeal. The competition results of the ‘Attica Women’s Local Cup’ are valid as registered and published”.
