AEK made an important move to strengthen its roster for the new year, as it announced today (24/05) the acquisition of Olga Strandzalis from PAOK.
With “Enos” signing a one-year contract with the international winger, while strengthening the Greek element in the team.
The relevant announcement in detail:
“AEK is pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Olga Strandzalis. The 27-year-old (16/01/1996) international winger, 1.85 m tall, signed a one-year contract and joins the Club’s women’s Volleyball team.
Olga Strantzali started volleyball from Aristotelis Skydras. In the two years 2009-2011, he played for Iraklis Thessaloniki, then transferred to Aiantas Evosmou and returned to “Giraios” for two years (2012-2014). In 2014 he traveled to the other side of the Atlantic for studies, where he competed at the University of California and Miami.
In 2017 he returned to Europe and wore the shirt of Béziers, with which he won the French Championship. This was followed by Pila and Legionowia Legionovo in Poland in 2018-2020, before moving to Italy’s Cuneo for the first half of the 2020-21 season. In the middle of the season, he was transferred to the Polish team Himik Polis, with whom he won the domestic double. In the summer of 2021, the Romanian Alba Blaz followed, with whom she won the country’s treble.
Last season he returned to Greece on behalf of PAOK.
Olga Strantzali is an active international player with our National team, contributing the most to her qualification to the 2023 Eurovolley Finals.
After the formalization of the agreement, Olga Strandzali said to aek.gr: “I am very happy that I will also be added to the AEK family. After many discussions, I felt that this would be the best step for my career. The people of AEK showed me confidence and the barometer in my decision was our coach, with whom I had worked in the past and have the best impressions. I will give my best so that AEK continues to star and win titles. As an opponent, I understood how difficult it is to play at AEK’s home ground.
I can only imagine what the opposite side will be like, that is, to have all this passionate world on your side. The fans were very important for AEK last year and will be even more important this year. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere inside the stadium and I hope we can celebrate many victories together. AEK has deservedly earned a place among the best teams in the league and the important thing is to continue to claim all the domestic trophies. The team exudes health and stability, which is important to the athletes who come to compete for it. With hard work and trust in the team, the desired results will come.”
Olga, welcome to the AEK family!”.
