New episode in the … serial of his participation Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open, with the Serbian tennis player watching his visa to be permanently canceled!
The move was made by the Australian Minister of Immigration, Alex Hawke, who commented that “I used my power under the Immigration Law to cancel Mr. Novak Djokovic’s visa, for reasons of health and order, in the public interest”.
One realizes that the presence of “Nole” in the tournament is considered impossible, with the Serb having been previously justified after the initial refusal of the Australians to allow him to enter the country. Djokovic is in danger of being barred from entering the country for three years, while he is expected to go to court again to overturn the decision. His representatives hope that his case will be heard within the weekend, in order to be thrown into the battle of the Grand Slam on Monday.
It is recalled that the nine-time winner of the Australian Open had secured a medical exemption to travel to Melbourne, but he was barred from entering the country with the revocation of his visa. It turned out that Djokovic, who was unvaccinated, had fallen ill on 16 December, but in the hours that followed he made public appearances without a mask at events in his homeland. The federal court initially revoked his visa revocation and Nole began training in Melbourne, but the government decided to use its power and effectively expelled him from Australia.
