Luton wrote history, beat Coventry on penalties and were promoted to the Premier League for the first time!

THE Premier League of the 2023/24 season welcomes a new… member!

The reason for the Lutonwhich after a sensational final at Wembley, prevailed 6-5 on penalties to Coventry (1-1 score in 120′ match) and will play for the first time from the Premier League in the big league.

In the 29th minute, the latter missed a double chance to make it 2-0 with Morris, while in the 41st minute he scored a goal with his hand, which he obviously didn’t count. To find Coventry’s first good moment, you have to go to the 43rd minute and Hammer’s miss from close range…

The goalscorer’s withdrawal due to injury in the 80′ typically hurt the hosts, with the score not changing until the end of the 90th minute despite the efforts of Gyokeres (88′), Coventry and Clarke (90+2′), Banjo (90+ 7′) by Luton. Somehow we reached extra time, where Horvath blocked Gyokeres’ diagonal volley with… good evening (91′).

However, nothing of note was recorded, with the exception of a tragic mistake by Panzo in the 116th minute, which allowed Taylor to score to make it 2-1… but having used his hand to steal the ball!

Of course, the goal didn’t count and everything was judged on penalties…

There the executioners seemed infallible and the goalkeepers invincible. the first eleven penalties ended up in the net, however Coventry’s sixth, taken by Dumboresulted in the ball being… dove, with Luton securing historic promotion!
