Monaco Grand Prix: Verstappen has a chance to open the gap

by

Max Verstappen, here’s your chance! The Dutchman, a two-time world champion, managed to take pole position in Monaco and will start first in today’s Grand Prix (16:00, Ant1), with the qualifiers being dramatic and decided in the finale.

With an incredible last lap, ‘Super Max’ managed to finish first and just 84 milliseconds ahead of Fernando Alonsostealing pole position from the hands of the experienced Spaniard, who will start from the front row of the grid but from second place.

Since we’re talking about it Monaco Grand Prix, one realizes how crucial a role the starting order plays since there are very few places to overtake due to the narrow passages and the many accidents that can often happen. As in yesterday’s qualifiers, where o Czech Peres crashed into the wall after the first turn off the starting line and will start last. So, o Verstappen he may well widen his gap over his teammate, increasing the +14 that currently separates them.

The Dutch pilot has just one victory, in 2021, in Monaco, with the Red Bull Racing to have as a company six wins at said track (2010, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2021, 2022). THE McLaren has 15 wins, the most of any other (1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008) but the last one came 15 years ago, while deceased Ayrton Senna most wins as a driver (1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993).
