Empoli shocked Verona in… 96′!

by

Verona and Empoli drew with a score of 1-1, at the “Bruno Bettegondi”, in the penultimate match of this year’s Serie A, with the first one… on fire, third from the end, in contrast to the second one, which was indifferent.

After a sterile first half, Verona took the lead when a long-range shot by Enzonze was parried by Vicario, and Gaik – who had come on as a substitute – beat the visitors’ goalkeeper with another shot to make it 1-0 in the second half. 61st minute.

Empoli missed a great chance to equalize in the 79th minute, with Cambiaghi’s cross from the right going just wide of the crossbar, while substitute Stojanovic appealed for a penalty early in the period.

With the home team “replying” in the very next minute when Gaik broke away on the counter attack, but could not make it 2-0 and clean up”… prematurely the game.

The…thriller continued as Empoli threatened twice more at 1-1, thanks to efforts from Grassi and Stojanovic. To finally reach the equalizer, in the sixth minute of extra time, with the latter scoring with a direct shot and… killing Verona!
