He danced in the rain and celebrated his second victory in Monaco o Max Verstappen! The Dutch World Champion took advantage of the pole position he got in the tests and faced the checkered flag once again this year, leaving Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin behind! Historic Grand Prix for Ocon who climbed the podium for the first time with Alpine!
Verstappen is the leading driver in the history of Red Bull as he now has the most victories in Formula 1 with his car, reaching 39 and thus surpassing Sebastian Vettel.
The start could well be characterized as episodic with the top ten entering the first corner maintaining the position they started with. There weren’t many changes in the front positions with Ocon and Hamilton battling from lap 36 onwards and the Alpine driver holding on to his post and the Englishman moving into the pits for the medium tyre.
Further back Sargent had a poor race as Magnussen, Stroll and Peres overtook him, however the Dane was forced to retire as the rain did not help his grip causing him to lose control and go off the track.
Verstappen continued to advance, increasing his gap to Alonso to 20+ seconds while halfway through the 40th lap he managed to pass Perez.
Russell was penalized five seconds but eventually managed to finish fifth. The top ten was completed by Leclerc, Gasly, Saint, Norris and Oscar Pastry, with the drivers preparing for the three-day Barcelona Grand Prix on June 2-4.
