ESAP validated the standings and teams of Europe and increases the number of foreigners

The final standings of this year’s Men’s Volleyball League normally apply. ESAP validated the league standings during Monday’s meeting, also validating the European entries, which will be announced shortly by EOPE. Also, the League approved the increase of foreigners from the next season, referred to the calendar of the new season and mentioned the purchase of new VARs.

In detail, the announcement:

“The ESAP Board of Directors held its last meeting for the 2022-23 season, where, among other things, the 2022-23 season standings were validated and the following decisions were made:

1. The score and final ranking of the 2022-23 season has been validated.

2. The teams that will take part in the European Cups have been confirmed.

3. An update was made for the promotion of Pre League teams to the Volley League and for the registration of the new members of the TAA association, establishment, approval and operation for their participation in the 2023-24 Volley League.

4. The body voted once again and now with an absolute majority to increase the number of foreign athletes, at least by one, from the 2024-25 competition season.

5. The representatives of AEK and Kalamata ’80 attended the Board of Directors as spectators, who stated that they will normally participate in the 2023-24 Volley League championship. In particular, the representative of the Union, Lefteris Archontis, assured the Board that, despite the large amount of TAA’s debts from previous years, the new administration will exhaust all possibilities for repayment or settlement of the old ones

debts.

He also pledged that this effort (setting up old debts) will take place in a very short period of time. with the aim of TAA AEK, as soon as possible, to inform ESAP about the achievement or not of the attempt to compete in the 2023-24 Volley League.

6. The first update was made for the calendar of the 2023-24 season.

7. Members were informed of the purchase of a second Video Check (VAR) which will be used for the needs of the 2023-24 Volley League championships.

8. Matters concerning ERT SA were discussed, with the aim of reaching a new agreement, more improved compared to the previous season.

9. There was a discussion about increasing the teams from 10 to 12 from the 2024-25 season and it was decided that this increase will be accepted, subject to the necessary condition of the increase in foreign athletes.

10. There was also a discussion on the development of men’s volleyball and it was decided to hold discussions with EOPE in the near future, with the aim of ESAP’s role in upgrading the Federation’s development program for men’s volleyball.
