Maarten Van Harderen officially became a PAOK player on Tuesday night. The Black and Whites have announced the 33-year-old Dutch international winger’s player for next year to replace Jorna, with the two sides completing the deal a few hours ago.
Van Harderen has played for many years in Italy and major European leagues.
In detail, the announcement:
“PAOK and the men’s volleyball department announce the start of cooperation with the athlete, Maarten Van Harderen, for the 2023-2024 season.
Born in the Netherlands on 24/01/1990, Maarten Van Harderen plays as a winger and is 200cm tall.
He started his professional career in the 2006-07 season with Dutch side Langhenkel Doetinchem, where he stayed for five seasons, winning a championship, while getting his first ‘shows’ from European competitions, competing in the CEV Challenge Cup.
The 2012-13 season found him in Italy on behalf of Caffe Aiello Corigliano, while the following (2013-14) was in France with Beauvais Oise UC.
In the 2014-15 season, he took the first big step in his career, playing in Germany for the mighty VfB Friedrichshafen, with whom he won the double, reaching the last 8 of the CEV Champions League.
In the 2015-16 season he played again in Italy, this time for CMC Romagna, while the following year (2016-17) he stayed in Serie A, to play for Bunge Ravenna.
The 2017-18 season found him in Italy’s Azimut Modena and the following (2018-19) in Itas Trentino, with whom he won the Club World Championship.
In the 2020-21 season he played outside Italy, playing for Ziraat Bankas; Ankara from Turkey, with whom he won the championship.
The following year (2021-22), he returned to Italy for Leo Shoes PerkinElmer Modena, with whom he reached the ‘8’ of the CEV Cup. Last season he remained in the Italian league for Emma Villas Aubay Siena, remaining at a high level.
He is an international player with the Dutch national team, having as a milestone the conquest of the European Golden League in 2012.
He is an athlete with many performances at the top level, having played in high-level leagues, but also in the top inter-club competition, the CEV Champions League.
