Initially he emphasized that he is leaving the club of his heart full of satisfaction and gratitude, he described the journey of his career as fantastic and added that he now wishes to dedicate himself and live experiences with his family.

“I was never a person who got along well with the media, my work was different. It makes sense that the focus is on the players who score and provide assists. They are more attractive to the fans, although people have always respected me. I leave Barcelona full of gratitude and satisfaction that I helped. I feel happy and privileged”.

For his last match at Camp Nou: “It was great, but I was calm. Thanks to my teammates, when the whole stadium applauded me it felt great. Many moments passed before my eyes, the headlines, everyday life, the most difficult moments. It was a fantastic trip”.

“Why did I decide to leave now? I wanted to wait for the World Cup and retire from the Spanish national team first. Then I committed myself to Barcelona again and made the decision. I have made my decision since January. I talked to myself and my family. This is the club of my heart, I’ve been here since I was 15, I’ve never left. Teammates and coaching staff were telling me to continue for one more season. They made me think, but the moment came when I thought that I have been here for 15 years and that I am lucky to have played at the top club in the world.
