Vezenkov MVP, Walkup top defender according to Players Association

After the awards from the Euroleague itself, o Sasha Vezenkov was named MVP by Association of players of the organization. “The best individual performance with the biggest impact on his team’s overall image“, says ELPA about the Olympiakos forward who had the best season of his career leading the Piraeus team to the final, in Kaunas, on May 21.

Vezenkov became the third Olympiacos player in a row to be named winner in one category of the ELPA awards, as in Thomas Walkup ended up with the award for the best defender of the season, while Kostas Slukas was named the best sixth player. The American guard came second in the corresponding EuroLeague voting, as the award went to Real Madrid’s Eddie Tavares. “The most dominant defensive player with the most influence on his team’s defensive play» states ELPA in its relevant post on Twitter.

ELPA also announced today that Israel’s Yam Madar of Partizan Belgrade has been named as their Top New Player.
